There are plusses and minus on both sides, but
being a CI$ member for many years, and seeing
the software that has been produced by CI$ over
the years - it's just like Microsoft. "Version 1"
of any rewrite will need a little additional work.

WinCIM 2.x was this way as well. The first
version of WinCIM 2.x was horrible. There actually
WAS a 3.0, which was never globally released, but
released to certain beta testers of another product
(and another vendor), for which I was part of...
After fighting 3.0, 3.0.1 is a blessing, even with
it's inherent shortcomings.

Yes, it is a glorified browser, which is part of the
overhaul going on at CompuServe. It is doing
essentially the same thing MSN is doing - it is
taking its content off those DECs and other
systems which have been running the service
since 1968, and placing it on servers using
HTML and Java to deliver the content. Give it
time folks - the technology is new, and the fact
that CI$, which is never "first on the block"
(AOL holds that honor) to make massive overhauls
to infrastructure - it will be ironed out in short order.

Remember, Win95 was not perfect and needed
a service pack...so does most other PC-based
software from most major vendors. CI$ is no
different.

...and that's my $.02 worth...but not dropping his
CI$ account.
