I agree with Greg.

However, I'd much prefer to see:  HPYYYY   (e.g., 1996 or 2001)
rather than something funky like HPLONGYEAR OR HPBARRY (science fiction
joke) or HPFULLYEAR.

I wouldn't mind seeing an additional HPYYYYMMDD...sure, you could build
it but with difficulty (months < 10, days < 10).
