This suggestion may sound too simplistic, or maybe just labor intensive,
but here goes:

Remove "PING.EXE" from every person's hard drive.

Have a nice day :)

Subject: Pinging a 3K

Howdy,

The list may be a bit hosed up, or we hosed up outside communications.
In either case I'm kind of flying blind here. Bear with me.

Mike Hornsby (in a roundabout way) reported that using Windows 95 or
NT you can crash an HP 3000, and stated don't try it.

Having nothing else to do with my time yesterday, at lunch, I pitched
everyone off our production system and gave 'er a try. If you're
running MPE 5.o or so that puppy will get a system abort in a New York
Minute.

We have changed up our firewall :( and contacted HPRC. They are aware
of the problem and appear to be (desperatly?) addressing the problem. In
the meantime; firewalls are ok but what do I do about the bored
employee who needs a long coffe break and pings the 3K?

Any and all thoughts appreciated.
