<<I also have a 7978 6250 bpi tape drive on this same HP-IP interface
card. Can I continue to use it on the 969/200 also? I think I remember
reading earlier that I should get a 7980S tape drive with a SCSI
interface.>>

PMFJI: as I posted back when this whole thing started (I'm the one who
started it ;-), I successfully used the following peripherals attached to
the CIO/HPIB card in a 959KS/200:
1) HPIB 7980: STORE/VSTORE, boot from an old MPE/ix 4.5 SLT tape, run
CLKUTIL from that tape.
2) HPIB C1511A: STORE/VSTORE.
3) HPIB 2564B: Print. Hey, what did you expect? Printers don't do that
much. Though I note that all the usual CIPER messages about changes of
status of the printer (power-up/reset, on-line, off-line, paper out,
etc.) appear on the system console.

and, in a later response to the question "Were you able to successfully
run online diagnostics, both on the HP-IB peripherals and on the HP-IB
card itself?"

Yup. I didn't do exhaustive testing, but HPIBDIAG, CIPERLPD, REELDIAG,
and HPIBDDS all seem happy, including device identification, self test,
and (where appropriate) read or read/write tests.
