Wednesday evening I taped the PBS show "Scientific American Frontiers" and
tonight I had the opportunity to watch the tape. The show included a
variety segments from the MIT Media Lab and the research into applications
of computers. If you have the opportunity to watch the show, you may find
it interesting. I did.

The applications were remarkable, and covered a wide range -- applications
in the arts, motion analysis, music, "wired living" (students who wore
computers and were outfitted with portable headsets, cameras, special
keyboards that fit in one hand, and radio links to LANs -- and looking
rather like "The Borg" of ST TNG fame). Things like taking a walk to power
the portable computer, using sensors in clothing to adjust the heating or
air conditioning in the room.

Anyway, if you can, you may want to watch it.
