What has POSIX got to do with anything -- the question was
job scheduling _on_ HP-UX, and HP-UX has cron. So I don't
see why a standards discussion has to enter the picture :-)

Your mailer is broken! It is not RFC compliant. Fix it or
get one that isnt broken. Operating a non-RFC compliant mailer
on the internet isnt very friendly.
 
It looks like you have a misconfigured sendmail. Here's
what I get:

The most recent release is 8.7.4.
