To your questions:
1. SCSIDDS LDEV=<tapedrive number> SC=50 will bring you to the
external exerciser where you can do a HELP to see all the available
options. There is a RESET command which does a hard reset on the drive
2. To see the descriptions of the sections available, do
HELP SCSIDDS SC
3. The SYSDIAG utilities in 5.0 are protected by a HP ONLY password
(self-maintainer license).
Hope that helps!

Subject: How to reset DDS drive on 4.0 system

Hello one and all,
I am having trouble with a labelled tape being recognized by one of the
three C1521B dds drives on my Series 947 running 4.0. The tape's label
was created by TapesPlus from Unison. I have three C1521B's hanging off
the system and the other two are able to load and read the label.
My question is (1)can I run SCSIDDS to reset that device using one of the
sections, and (2)is there somewhere, buried in a manual, descriptions of
the sections that are available? The SCSIDDS utility on my 5.0 dev system
tells me I need to have a self-maintainer/channel license to run it.
TIA,
Mike Kapsak
