I have been the owner of three software firms since 1980 and never did we
charge license upgrade fees for changes in cpu/system.
 
I know others who also don't charge those outrageous upgrade fees.
 
So its not *all* software vendors who behave this way.
 
BTW - we make good money without such a policy. In fact, that might be
a contributing factor ;-)
