Hi,
Having failed miserably to solve previous challenges,
I thought I'd post one myself. One minor problem though: I don't
have the solution!, but I do know that it _can_ be done by logic
alone, and does not rely on wordplay or other subterfuge.
The Problem:
------------
You are given 12 coins, 11 of which are of equal weight, and one
is of a different weight, either lighter or heavier.
You are allowed the use of a balance-type scale that can hold
as many coins as you like on each side.
(Here's the tricky bit) You may only use the scale 3 times, at the
end of which you will know which coin is different, AND whether it
is lighter or heavier than the rest.
Go to it gang!
