Hi all,
As some of you may recall, I posted the original article about the
large "picture" of Mickey Mouse ... a posting that seems to have
inspired the Anaheim Alfombra project.
Hence, it is with some trepidation that I post the following...
> TEDDY BEAR. HP Canada commissioned the creation of Canada's
> largest Teddy Bear for The Hospital for Sick Children
> Foundation's annual telethon picnic on May 31. "Hewy the Bear"
> is 15 feet tall, weighing more than 100 pounds with a paw-span of
> nearly 17 feet. He was constructed of ethafoam, steel and lamb's
> wool by a local prop outfit. At the picnic, he arrived by
> stretcher to play the role of an patient receiving medical
> treatment for minor injuries. The teddy bear will reside
> permanently at the hospital for the enjoyment of young patients.
>
> HP Canada has been involved with the annual fund-raising event
> for 11 years. This year more than 250 HP employees volunteered a
> total of 1,000 hours to record manually some 35,000 phoned-in
> pledges that will be entered into a computer at HP for
> confirmation and issuance of receipts. HP Canada also regularly
> donates leading-edge medical equipment to the hospital.
