You are as old as you feel, and I assure you many of us would be feeling
much older if we had been working for the same number of years on other
platforms.
An HP2100 was the machine that I studied on in Cal State Long Beach, many
years ago. I spent many nights working on my projects, in assembly and in
ALGOL. I too remember the punch tape unit and booting up from the
registers and the whole unit vibrating when we would condense the disc.
Just before I graduated the System Manager, a young man that was also
working full time for some aerospace firm, brought in a version of IMAGE
and QUERY for the HP2100. I did not have a chance to use it but I know
that HP had IMAGE running on other machines besides the HP3000.
Thanks for the memories
Paul H. Christidis
