A few years ago CSY decided to stop benchmarking the HP 3000 with industry
standard marks. Their thinking is that the money spent on benchmarks --
which can easily run a quarter-million dollars each -- is better spent on
R&D. HP officials in CSY have said when asked about this that their
customers want it that way. This does make it a little harder to sell the
HP 3000 to anyone who doesn't already own one, of course. All of HP's
performance numbers on the 3000 now are relative to the processing power of
a Series 918 system, a measurement based strictly on CPU horsepower and not
factoring in the performance advantage of using IMAGE.

What's your interest in a TPC-C mark for the HP 3000?
