Apple is doing precisely this with the Worldwide Developer Conference going on
this week in San Jose. Not only is the audio available via RealAudio, but
video is available both in QuickTime TV format and MBone format; the former is
at a 2 frame/sec rate for use with 28.8kb modems, and the latter at 10-20
frames/sec. for use by those with a 128kb or greater connection.

In addition, the slides are being made available as a series of stills during
the talks, so anyone with a 28.8kb/s connection can get the audio and see the
slides, whether or not they have QuickTime. The slides and RealAudio material
will be available on the web up until the next conference. Unfortunately,
they're using RealAudio 2.0, and I only have the player for 1.0, and
RealAudio's ftp site was down earlier :-(.

I'm not sure that Interex would benefit from going this far, but it'd be
interesting to do this with important sessions. You could do this with the
roundtables, and even allow real-time questions submitted via the Internet.
