We are trying to convert some data from a VAX system to use on our 3000's.
We have received a DAT tape with ASCII data and are using FCOPY to read it.
It reads fine, and all character data is cool. However, integer data and
double integer data come across as garbage! This data originated as probably
some kind of binary encoded field (like a J-type thing) but we don't know
a lot about its original source or storage. It came to us as a sequential
file, but was originally an indexed file.

Anyone have any clues? if anyone has ever done this on a 3000 (or even,
shudder, a 9000) please contact me with your method. Thanks in advance
