Excerpted from 'HP 3000 900 Series Computer Systems Configuration Guide'
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This discussion is from a section describing DTC16MX, DTC16RX, and DTC72MX
products.

The DTC supports extended LAN configurations with bridges (using the HP 3000
Series 900 optimized AFCP protocol) and level 3 IP routers (using TCP/IP
protocol). This means that a DTC user can access a system located on a
remote segment of a LAN. Users can access the HP 3000 or HP 3000 System
through level 3 IP routers using the Telnet TCP/IP protocol on the remote
system. Telnet access to the HP 3000 provided by the DTC-based Telnet
product (me: or 5.5 inbound Telnet service).

In lieu of Telnet, users can access an HP 3000 remotely over a routed
network, using Routable AFCP. This requires the MPE/ix 5.0 platform release
or later, and two DTCs, both running DTC code 14.2 or later.

My understanding is that you need OpenView DTC Manager to configure DTCs
that are on segments not directly attached to your HP 3000.

I would check out the HP web server or HP First (fax back) for datasheets or
white papers on this topic.
