I currently have a non-HP SCSI disc drive installed on a system that I use
for De-Frag/X testing.  It's labeled "NCA Barracuda", but if you need more
specific info I'll have to try and track it down somewhere (Stan picked it
up for us, and *might* know the model number etc.).  MPE thinks it's an
HPA1999A, MPE type 4, MPE subtype 2.  It's 4GB, in it's own external box.
 
We haven't had any problems with it, but I don't know if I would ever
suggest ANY non-HP drive for mission-critical data.
 
I also have a non-HP SCSI drive in one of my HP-UX test systems.  HP is
much more open to "foreign" drives on HP-UX boxes.
