Randy noticed:
                       ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Not '#!hpjobtype!hpjobnum' ? Is the dotted form something new?

JV: Nope, just a strange typo...should read '!hpjobtype!hpjobnum'
JV: a leading # is optional, but is always part of the automatically set
JV: hplastjob.

Pause? This does something for me in Qedit, but not in MPE.

JV: JOB= and interval= were added to PAUSE in the LISTF,access enhancement.
JV: I posted this enhancement as a reply to a backup synchronization post.
JV: I will be happy to repost if there is interest. Basically, you can pause
JV: your job or session until another job(s) or session(s) logsoff.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of behavior results from setting HPLASTJOB
to an invalid/non-existent job?

JV: invalid or non-existent job or anything that does not result in the STDLIST
JV: spool id to be found sets HPLASTSPID to "" (empty string).

Otherwise, looks pretty neat.
JV: Thanks
