Evan's message snipped...

We were using Trumpet winsock with Netscape and MS92. We noted
extraordinary LAN traffic on some segments (up to 80%!) which, after LAN
analyzing, we determined was polling exchanges between MS92 and
Trumpet. We found a variety of versions of Trumpet (1.0 -2.0B) and
MS92 2.x -3.5.0). The problems disappeared when we cleaned up the
early Trumpet and MS92 versions.

We also noted more stable
performance when we use the MS Winsock. The 32-bit versions and
Windows 95 are extremely stable and don't cause any funnies with the
LAN.

Central control of versions via a server rather than local
installations reduces the maintenance load.

It's all good, clean fun...
