<<I have traded in my executive saloon car for a high performance sports
car, but I am staying with the wheels & tyres from the saloon because
they cost me a lot of money and they go round perfectly O.K. on the
sports car even though the manufacturer said they weren't supported!....
(Can't understand why all the
other sports cars go faster than mine though!, or why the steering
wobbles all over the place at high speed!).>>

The defect in this analogy being that the suggested "new tires", i.e.
converting the printer from HPIB to RS-232, is a lower performance
solution than the existing capability.
