Wirt, and others, have asked me about order numbers and prices
for SPT/iX and Sampler.
Yes, they have order numbers...and prices (at least, as of June 1993!)
SPT/ix comes in two parts: collector and analyzer. (You need both.)
Sampler, which only runs on the Classic HP3000, is officially
called APS/3000 (Application Program Sampler).

I highly recommend these products.

Thanks, Stan. I very much appreciate you taking the time to type all of the
above out. However, looking in the new (July, 1995) price list, it appears
that there is good news. APS/3000 hasn't changed its prices from those quoted
above, but if I'm reading the new price list correctly (which is always a
worry), the SPT/iX prices have significantly dropped.
The new prices for the SPT/iX products seem to be without tiered pricing; a
single (actually 1-3) right-to-use copy of SPT/iX Collector is now only $500
and the SPT/iX Analyzer is $2000. Larger usage quantities drop the prices
further. Ten and up quantity usage drops the prices to $306 and $1,224,
respectively (intermediate quantity usages are intermediate between these two
prices).
Nonetheless, I have a second question. If APS/3000 cannot be run on a RISC
machine, why are the majority of the prices quoted for iX boxes? Or does APS
actually work on these machines, but only in compatibility mode (including
perhaps OCTCOMP'ed programs)?
