I recently purchased a Megahertz 1414 PCMCIA modem for my HP200LX. I was
attracted by its XJACK and the fact that the HP100LX was listed on the box
as one of the many palmtop/notebook compatible products. I assumed that it
would also work with my HP200LX.

I was half right. It worked, all right, but also nearly fried my 200 in the
process. It twice completely scrambled my data so that I had to do a hard
reset and restore the data from backup. Fortunately, I did proper backups to
my PC before each test.

I am now searching for a replacement. The 800/443-1254 number listed in the
HP200LX manual does not offer information on compatible modems, contrary to
what's stated in the manual.

So, I am turning to this listserver for help.

Can anybody recommend a PCMCIA modem (preferably with XJACK) which works
well with the HP200LX?

Thanks in advance.
