I am currently in the throes of trying to access an IMAGE/SQL
database on the HP3000 using the HPPCAPI, MS Excel or Access, and ODBC.
My PC platform is Windows for Workgroups 3.11. We have ThinLan Link on the
3000 and D-Link cards in the PC.
I have gone through the HP PC API User's guide set up, along with
various setups as described in papers for the User's Group. I have also
followed setups for MS TCPIP from MicroSoft.
HOSTS.NET.SYS is present and the HPDARPA listener is up and running.
I get various error messages from the PC Applications when I try
to connect or attach to an external data source. eg 'Invalid Server Name'
and 'PC Sockets Error:66'.
I've got the sample IMAGE/SQL database 'MUSIC' running as per
instructions.
I know people have done this, (all the literature says so) but I'm
missing something somewhere. I'd like to get a complete top-to-bottom
listing of necessary files, drivers, CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT,
PROTOCOL.INI, WIN.INI, etc because in all the various information I have,
no two seem to go about it the same way.
Any tips, or help would be greatly appreciated.
