Thanks to John Pearce for his entry into this thread. His reasoning for
uninstalling Windows '95 was very similar to mine. In installed the
product on my 486/100 PC at home to test our PC-based products against.
Once I tested it, I found that there wasn't compelling reason for me to
keep it on my PC at home at this point. That was the reason for the
deinstallation.
It's not that '95 isn't a good product, it's just that I didn't need it.
Denys's basic response about operating systems is that we must go to the
latest and greatest without regard to need. Maybe to be a little fairer
to Denys I should say that I agree that new technology is a good thing,
in general. But remember, I am a computer nerd for a living :-) ) I
think that it is healthy for us all to remember that we ought to assess
need before we shove our whiz-bang solutions down other peoples throats.
Again, Windows '95 is a good product. But then, so is the '96 Dodge
minivan but I'm not prepared to go get one when my '89 still rolls! I
know, I just went shopping this weekend for a new van and made that very
decision.
Hang in there, gang (oops, I almost typed "guys"!)
