I know it's expensive, but we are pleased with the HP opticals. Each
box has 2 drives and 32 platters and handle parallel backups quite well.
Requires no operator intervention to do a full backup. So that needs to be
factored into cost/benefit anal. A large part of our 3rd shift was only doing
backups. :>)
We will be upgrading to the newer 100 gig boxes as part of a consolidation
project.
