A week or so ago there was some discussion regarding how to edit a
circular file using Qedit or some other HP 3000 editor. A workaround was
discussed which involved using a file command with the Copy parameter. I
would like to post an enhancement request asking that Qedit handle
circular files properly, but I need help deciding what "properly" means.

Take the following circular file:

FILENAME CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD-------
                  SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT

CIRCLE 80B FAO 2500 10000

You text the 2500 records, make whatever changes are required, and keep
them. Does this append the 2500 new records to the circular file, making
the total 5000? Or does this replace the original records with the new,
edited contents?

Mike Shumko
