We recently suffered a serious outage caused in part by slow tape drives
(currently employing DAT 1504s and 7980XCs).

I'm interested in comparing tape speeds for HP and third party devices
(plugs welcome if backed with glossy propaganda, specs and price lists
sent to the address below). Reliability is a must, so anyone with
horror stories please chime in.

Aside from the HP devices, and the StorTek cartidge drives, I'm not
aware of faster alternatives. Any leads are appreciated.
