That's the truth.  We send about 5 tapes a week out for transfer to
microfiche.  About 1 in 10 end up compressed when they shouldn't be.
 
Anyone know why AIFDEVICEPUT documentation says it will control a
7980XC compression, but doesn't?  The response center says the tape
drive won't do that, but I have trouble believing the AIF team put in a
function that won't work.
