I found a HP cable similar to a 92219Q except it didn't have Pin 23 (Data
Signal Rate Detector).  I reckoned this came with some old 1200 baud modems
HP use to supply for us folks down under.
 
Anyway, everything works fine - it even hangs up on disconnect.
