On 3rd party software, on UNIX any database that you get to keep your
data in is a 3rd party product. You can't use, "well but it does not
come with the system" for either OS. UNIX comes with a standard set of
tools/utilities that may be what a company needs and will not have to buy
any 3rd party software. MPE comes with a different standard set of
tools/utilities that may be what another company needs and not need any
3rd party software. Most companies will have to go to 3rd party software
for a complete solution.

The point to be made is that in the current corporate atmosphere any
computing question that is asked is answered with UNIX and client/server.
Most upper level management assume UNIX and client/server is the only way
to "do comuting" today. Therefore many systems that do not need to change
platforms are moving for no good reason. The MPE and UNIX HP community
need to come to together to complement each other, not try and destroy
each other.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming already in progress.
