: Eero will no doubt reply with the telnet port number; in any event , the
: question doesn't apply in this instance -- the Telnet Express Box (or Telnet
: Access Card) converts telnet into AFCP, so the access is through the AFCP
: port number.

- Since requested... yes, Evan is right, the telnet port number does not
apply (on the hp3000). Telnet port #23 is open and listening in the DTC
72MX's Telnet Express card. Whenever a connection is made to this port,
it'll lookup the host one needs to be connected based on it's tables
configured on DTCMGR (IP-address to host mappings). Once the host name
is known, the DTC will open an AFCP/ADCP connection to the HP3000 and
as such the telnet connection to the DTC is 'piped' to the AFCP connection
and vice versa. The DTC/TAC card acts as a protocol coverter between telnet
and AFCP/ADCP.
DTC-telnet HP3000 MPE/iX
telnet-client "mirror"
\ telnet ADCP ADCP
tcp tcp AFCP AFCP
ip ip IEEE802.2 IEEE802.2
ethernet ethernet IEEE802.3 IEEE802.3
............... ++++++++++++++++
Hope this helps,
