It will work, but will not support STATUS CHECKING, thus it must be configured
as type 18/dumb printer.  The status checking does all the fancy stuff about
reporting out of paper, offline, and makes sure the printer doesn't lose data.
However, the company Exellink (408) 295-9000, has a nice set of products that
will provide status checking for the laserjets.

Subject: HP3K, serial connect to LJ 4+

I notice that the HP LaserJet 4+ has a serial port on the back, and
supports XON/XOFF, and Robust XON/XOFF. Does this mean that this
printer will work properly with the Native Mode Spooler on MPE/iX?
