Yesterday Chris Bartram <[log in to unmask]> asked:

>Anyone out there know if it's possible to (and if so how?) create your
>own SNMP variables (basically add a custom names or MIBs that the 3000
>by itself doesn't support)?
>
>Can it be done programatically?

And I replied that I had recently seen an article and that I would send him
a copy.

The article in question is entitled something like "SNMP Packet Decoding"
and is in the July 1993 issue of hp-ux/usr magazine from Interex. The
article includes both the definition of a sample MIB and SNMP packet decoder
source written in C.

Instead of my sending Chris (and some others) copies of the article perhaps
those people can look through their back issues; or perhaps get the article
from Interex directly.
