Tony,

  Packet-wise it'll talk. Software-wise, you'll need compatible software
between the two. HP3000s (by default) talk TCP/IP (various services on top
of tcp/ip including telnet, ftp, hp-vt protocol, and with third-party help;
lpr/lpd, smtp, nfs, and a few others).
  Novell normally uses IPX/SPX with its services running on top of that,
though I believe some fileservers will run their services on top of TCP/IP
(tunneling?) you still need to find compatible services.
  If you REALLY want to talk between the Novell fileservers and the HP3000,
the most common way is probably to buy NetWare on the 3000. NFS may also be
a possible common-ground.
  However, most people who ask "how do I get my HP3000 talking with my Novell
fileservers" really mean "can my PC clients talk to both machines over the
same wire" - that answer is yes. PCs can (with proper network stacks) load
files/access printers off your fileservers, AND log into and access (via
ODBC) your HP3000s.
  BTW - if you haven't done so already, be sure to "enable ethernet" in your
NMMGR configuration on the 3000.
