I'm looking around for some information about the sizes of your internal IS
support staffs. I wondering if we are understaffed or overstaffed. I also
am wondering how your networks are setup. Our setup is as follows:

1 - HP950 running financial and order management software with approximately
40-50 users. (60-70% cpu utilization)

130 - IBM compatible computers (clients) running dos 5.0 and (in some cases)
wfw3.11. These systems range from 286 (approximately 35 in use to a couple
of pentium 90s.

2 - AST 486/DX2 50mhz servers running ms lanmanager (each server has 1gb of
disk space and 32mb memory)

1 - AT&T Definity G1 (system 75) telephone switch with about 200-250
extensions

1 - VMX200 (Octel now) voice messaging system

Our support staff is as follows:

1 - Applications Manager for HP3000 Applications

1 - Computer Systems Manager (managing HP system, telephone system, voice
messaging system, lan, and general pc repair and installation

2 - PC specialists assisting the computer systems manager in maintenance of
the telephone system, voice messaging system, lan and general pc repair.

There are miscellaneous power users (about 3) that also work with the pcs
and help with the installation of major upgrades. We choose Lan Manager
mostly because that was what HP was recommending at the time we installed
it. We would like to migrate to windowsNT but haven't spent the time or
money yet. We are also investigating metering software (Saber is the
standout right now) to better manage software costs and hardware
configurations.

I would really like to find out how your staff sizes compare to ours.
