:We have a number of employees who depend on being able to dial into
:the HP 3000 (and HP 9000) over high-speed modems. The modems are
:connected to DTC modem ports. Currently all our modems are configured
:for software flow control, which means that the modem will generate
:its own XON/XOFF characters to control the HP 3000, and will 'listen'
:for the same from the HP 3000. Can these DTC ports support hardware
:flow control, where the modem and DTC control each other using modem
:signals such as RTS and CTS? If so, is there any advantage to using
  :one method over the other?

Don't know.

:Side question: currently the DTC's maximum serial speed is
:19200, even though theoretically our V.34 modems are capable of
:faster. Is there any model of DTC modem ports that supports
  :faster than 19200?

We had an application that we were trying to speed up the screens on, so we
purchased the DTC 72MX since it advertised speeds of 38,400! When we hooked it
up it looked pretty good until we started getting garbage on the HP700/60
screens once in a while. When we persued this with HP, they said that
although the port may support that speed, it wasn't supported as a connection
type to the HP9000 application. We ended up dropping this method, bought the
HP windows clients, and now use VT connections.
