They're on my list for a letter to the editor. The reference to Unix and
HP3000 just shows how Unix-crazy the trade press has gotten these days.
The problem may be in the source for the graphic: International Technology
Group, an RS/6000 analyst and programming house. I'm sure somebody had to
explain to them what the HP3000 is. I can't imagine their market research
could reflect any understanding of how widespread MPE sales still are. If
there's anything more dangerous than managing by magazine, its measuring
markets by analysts -- especially those too new to know what they're
measuring.
