I was also thinking that date-related CI evaluator functions would help (see
SR 4700-718932).  Examples include:
   ADDTODATE() - which could take an input date and a delta and return
                 a date that equals input_date+delta.
 
   YYMMDD() - which could convert a MMDDYY date to a yymmdd date (or yyyymmdd)
              string.
 
   MMDDYY() - convert a [YY]YYMMDD date to mmdd[yy]yy string.
 
   DDMMMYY() - convert a yymmdd date to ddmmmyy string.
 
   JULIAN() - convert a yymmdd date to a Julian integer.
 
etc.
