Will any of the IPROFS forums be thrashing this issue? I personally think it
would be good for us all to get together and work out a strategy that is
positive for both HP and non-HP developers.

HP has never claimed that backwards compatibility is supported, and I'm not
changing that here, but we may be able to work out some methods of not making
it harder than it needs to be.

: 1- HP C/iX has had and still has difficulties going backwards in releases.

: 2- ALLBASE/SQL has problems going backwards in releases also. Come to think

: These two issues take together by let us say, a utility written in C and

: SPLASH! is probably immune to most of the vagaries of the first type.
: However, I am not aware of an SQL pre-processor for SPLASH! Which is one of

: The only languages supported by HP-supplied pre-processors, of which I am
: aware (caveat), are: C, PASCAL, COBOL and FORTRAN. No, there is not BASIC
: pre-processor, nor one for RPG, FORTRAN/66 or SPLASH!.
