I would like to throw in my $0.02 worth on this issue.

A few months ago, I bought a USR 14.4 Data/Fax sportster. I installed it in
my PC and then bought Delrina Winfax Pro.

I use the modem to access America On-Line (where there is no limit on the
number of messages, and is opening up in Europe.) at 14,4000, send faxes with
Winfax/PRO and connect to customer sites using WRQ Reflection for Windows at
up to 14.4.

The modem has performed well for two of the three duties. For various
reasons, it refuses to receive faxes with any degree of reliability. I have
contacted both Delrina and USR. Delrina has a special section for dealing
with this particular modem. The settings Delrina recommends have only a
passing resemblance to the ones USR recommends for Delrina software.

For this reason, I am retiring the USR modem to my other PC where it will
only handle dial-out and AOL access. I have acquired another modem and will
be trying that one out.

BTW, today I was talking to a customer back in the old country (Canada) who
is having the exact same problem with the same software (Winfax/PRO) and hardw
are (USR Sportster).

Kind regards,

Denys. . .
