Jerry: Hi!

We had a similar problem with loading two IP stacks on some pcs due to the
need for WRQ' s TCP2PDIS (their propietary tcp/ip stack) with 3000
Connection for HP NS/VT connection & and Novell's Lan Work Place For Dos
TCP/IP stack for an external 3270 emulation requirement (which WRQ has, but
we already owned Novell's LWP).

Our dilemma lead us not only to requiring more ip addresses, since we were
running out quickly as stations required double assignments, but also to
added software management in maintaining two tcp/ip stacks & potential
conflicts.

As it turns out, there is a product which WRQ provides called NSOPEN which
provides the NS/VT drivers ONLY- which will run over a standard TCP/IP
stack (like Novell's) and will dynamically load vs requiring dos load of tsr
drivers with 3000 Connection & Reflections <4.10 saving our memory (winsock
compliant). FYI: NSOPEN has a Macintosh client equivalent called
NSCONNECTION. I am currently running Novell's TCP/IP stack with NSOPEN &
it works great.

I believe there is a requirement for NSOPEN that Reflections version must
be >=4.10?, but WRQ would obviously know best (513-891-7867, Dana Burske @
WRQ is a contact).

One thing to keep in mind when considering NSOPEN over 3000 Connection is
that NSOPEN is not a suite of connection types only ns/vt, but since you get
less it costs less$$. If other tools are in house like Novell's Work Place
For Dos these could likely accomodate other connection needs like telnet. -
Good Luck & as always I hope this helps someone.

Kyle,
When HP releases host based telnet (next year) you will be
able to do a BAPI connection with no further software. At the
current time you need additional software, ie a vt manager
stack. We use Lan WorkPlace for DOS (Novell) as a company
standard. Unfortunately it's IP stack is incompatible with
either WRQ's or HP's vt managers. So I have 2 boot up
environments. 1. for Novell IP stack and IPX for my CCMail.
2. for WRQ IP stack and VT manager. Actually, I mostly use
enviroment 1, as we have a couple Telnet DTCs that I BAPI to.
