Pete and et al...

This does not track with what WCSO related during and after the IPROF conference
last year. Out of that meeting, and discussions afterwards the results were:

1. The diagnostics ARE the property of HP.

2. The diagnostics are placed on our system for use by BOTH the customers and
authorized personnel.

3. Customers who have HP support contracts are provided a means to use these
diagnostics. No HP support contract, no access to the diagnostics.

4. Acknowledgment the current method of using codewords to enable the
diagnostics is poor. Hense the first pass of the fax back format to achieve the
codeword and access. However, looking towards the future (perhaps in 5.0 push
or longer) where instead of using the codeword procedure, the diagnostics could
use the Predictive Support linkage/codeword to automatically activate and/or
deactive the diagnostics.

Due to the recent events, as a concern customer and chairman of SIG/SysMan, I
have already scheduled a meeting to discuss this issue with WCSO while I'm in
the Bay area mid-February.

I agree with you that posting additional messages at this time is of little
value. I would ask of people to wait until I get back next month and review my
report from the meeting.

However, if there are concerns and/or opinions you would like for me to take
into the meeting, please e-mail them to me.

Regards,
