It may help to have clear, convicing pictures and statistics to show what
happens to a business during when the system is down. Disaster planning
should refer to short term events as well as long term - it can be just
as bad a disaster to the business. What is the cost of business
interruption insurance and does it cover computer equipment failure?
HP should be prepared to make these kings of arguments convincingly to
sell 3000 systems. If support contract had to paid the business for
system down time due to equipment failure then the 3000 should stand
out as a good value. Bid specifications for computer systems need to
include the costs of down time, with a warranty from the system vendor!
