The reason why the attendees were cramped into a small room with no
answer boxes was they were declined access to the larger
lunch room area that holds 100+ people. That was reserved for something
else.  The fact was, though that we only saw about 6 people in that
room at any one time.  As one of the salesmen said "I'm ticked
that we had 25-30 people cramed into a small room, while another
group of 6 gets the whole lunchroom."
 
Alas, maybe those were UNIX people that got the lunchroom!
