They don't learn, do they...

I just received my Interex Vendor Service Source Directory, "Interex's
Extensive Reference Guide to HP 3000, 1000, and PC Products, Services,
and Vendors".

Despite the public discussion after the last issue, as well as
off-line correspondance with some Interex management, this one still
neither lists *all* vendors known to Interex, nor indicates that it is
merely a collection of advertisements.

Interex did manage to change "Comprehensive" to "Extensive". Pity they
didn't look up the definition of "extensive". (One of the forms
includes "comprehensive".)

Extensive? Hah!

I checked the January '95 Interact "list of advertisers" (page 80), to
see how many advertisers there were listed in the "extensive" Guide
and found some fascinating things:

   1) Of 34 advertisers in January '95 Interact, 11 aren't in the
      Guide. That's a big percentage!

   2) Of the first 5 advertisers (alphabetically) listed in both the
Guide and the Interact issue, NOT ONE HAD THEIR NAME SPELLED
(and punctuated) THE SAME IN BOTH LISTS. I find this astounding.

I stopped comparing at that point, but...Hey Birket, is
there an ampersand after "Foster"? :)

   3) HP wasn't listed as an advertiser in January 95, but they did
      advertise in the Guide.

   4) Page 80 of the January 95 Interact says at the bottom "January '94"

Hey, INTEREX...

I want a promise that the next edition of this "directory" have
a clear disclaimer *at the front) that it lists PAID advertisers...
               or
          Allow non-paid listings as well.

Simple, but fair.

...or, maybe *I'm* the one who doesn't learn...that Interex doesn't
give a xxxx about fairness?

P.s.: A single ad in the Guide costs $475 for a "maximum" of 75 words,
and then $1 per additional word.

P.p.s: Steve probably regrets that I have 'net access now!
