I have encountered a situation that is best served by having the HP3000 send a
canned e-mail message to a fixed address. SENDMAIL, of some obsolete version,
is present on the HP. I do not need a MTA running on the HP, I just need it to
perform as an MUA on demand. I previously have used SENDMAIL on Linux and Unix
to send pre-composed messages using file pipelining and the sendmail -t option.
But I cannot determine how to pass options to sendmail or how to pipeline from
the MPE CLI.
How is sendmail used from the command prompt to do this? When I try to
experiment I get this:
:RUN SENDMAIL.CURRENT.SENDMAIL
can not chdir(/var/spool/clientmqueue/): Permission denied
Program mode requires special privileges, e.g., root or TrustedUser.
END OF PROGRAM
The documentation that I can locate on the system itself is not readable
through the 'more' utility.
What I wish to accomplish to run from the MPE/iX CLI the Unix CLI equivalent of:
cat MSGFILE | sendmail -t
where MSGFILE contains the from, to, subject, date, and message body.
Any suggestions are welcomed.
