I’ve acquired an HP rp2430 on which I want to run MPE/iX 7.5 for retrocomputing/hobby purposes. I’ve been able to apply the final firmware updates for both the system (43.50) and the GSP (C.02.15) and now I’d like to convert the system to one that can run MPE, and also turn it into an rp2470 since I have a spare processor.
What do I need to do? I know that to do this I’ll need to poke some bytes into Stable Storage. I know there’s a “manufacturing” menu in the firmware that can be used for this, is the process to get (and the codeword algorithm) documented anywhere or will I have to spend some quality time with Ghidra to figure that out? Or can I boot PA-RISC Linux and poke the Stable Storage using a utility there?
I’d also like to reconfigure the system to self-report as an rp2470 since I was able to get an additional CPU and I wouldn’t mind going from 2GB of RAM to 8GB. I know this is also possible through the same “manufacturing” menu, but if there’s an easier route, I’ll take it.
