Hi,

I remember writing code for the CM STORE, Q-MIT release, that would mark a
bad tape as "BAD TAPE", but I can't recall if I ever *looked* for that when
given a new reel.  Looking at the source code, there's no indication that I
ever wrote code to check a new reel for 'BAD TAPE' :(

I mentioned that in theory NM STORE looks at it ... because I saw it in the
source code yesterday, when I looked.  I didn't look long enough (because
it would be a lengthy task) to see if the code could actually be invoked!
