It appears that my karma has decided that I do not know enough about printing
from the HP3000 and so I now have this situation

:SHOWOUT #O77179

DEV/CL DFID JOBNUM FNAME STATE FRM SPACE RANK PRI #C
4171     #O77179    #S5700  QZAPLCQL ACTIVE F     496      5   1
OUTFENCE = 7
OUTFENCE = 6 FOR LDEV 4171
OUTFENCE = 6 FOR LDEV 4174
OUTFENCE = 6 FOR LDEV 4173
OUTFENCE = 6 FOR LDEV 4172

The issue here is that the status is PRINT, which I believe to mean the spool
file is being transmitted to the printer.

However, this is a very small file. Its PRI was originally 8. I have set it
to 5 to avoid having it come out somewhere while I am working on the issue.

The printer says it is online.

I experimented and discovered that while the printer says it is online the
network says it is missing. I checked the LAN cable and even replaced it with
a known good one. Both the original and the replacement cables light up the
hub. But the printer is not responding to ping (host is down error).

We need to get the IP address (192.168.216.51) reassigned to another printer
because the setup for laser printing form overlays is just to much work. This
is what I did:

STOPSPOOL 4171
DOWN 4171
STOPSPOOL 4172
DOWN 4172

Then I reconfigured the ip address on 4172 from 192.168.216.52 to
192.168.216.51. Power cycled 4172. I confirmed that the TCP/IP address on the
device is indeed 192.168.216.51. The I did this:

UP 4171
STARTSPOOL 4171
SHOWDEV 4171
 LDEV AVAIL OWNERSHIP VOLID DEN ASSOCIATION

 4171     SPOOLED       SPOOLER OUT

But the printer will not print.
