I tried :)

On my 918, there was a space for the battery ... but (IIRC) no connector
cable for it.

And, the "Power Supply PCA Connectors" diagram (page 8-31, figure 8-16 in
HP Part No. A2051-90003 version of 9x8 CE Handbook lacks the J104 connector
seen
in the 9x7 CE Handbook (page 8-25, figure 8-20,  A1707-90016).

So, no.
