Release 9 of the HP 3000 simulator is now available at:

  http://simh.trailing-edge.com/hp/

Descriptions of the major changes for the release are listed on the home
page above. In addition, several bugs were fixed in the simulator.

Gavin Scott's work on getting APL running under simulation embarrassed me
into (finally!) implementing the Extended Instruction Set microcode
simulator. Previously, MPE has been emulated the missing four-word
floating-point and decimal arithmetic instructions. Now they are executed
directly by the simulator, which should result in speed improvements in
programs that make heavy use of these instructions.
